Dr. Shannon Weir

DDS

Dr. Shannon Weir is a highly trained dental professional with advanced expertise in a wide range of procedures, including implant placement, oral surgery, periodontal surgery, endodontic therapy, and prosthodontic rehabilitation. She completed two years of hospital-based residency at the University of Utah, where she specialized in providing comprehensive dental treatment to medically complex patients and individuals with special healthcare needs in an integrated medical setting.

Born and raised in Mesa, Arizona, Dr. Weir comes from a multigenerational local family; her great-grandmother founded the beloved Watson’s Flowers on Main Street in 1927. She combines her deep roots in the community with a heartfelt mission: to deliver compassionate, equitable dental care to all patients, regardless of disability, anxiety, trauma history, or medical complexity.

Dr. Weir is deeply committed to supporting patients who have long struggled to access care due to dental phobia, PTSD, strong gag reflexes, or sensory integration disorders. She is known for building strong relationships with her patients, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and heard. Her approach transcends technical dentistry—she offers care during some of her patients’ most vulnerable moments, a responsibility she holds with great reverence.

This commitment was born not only from professional training but also through personal transformation. Just days after being accepted into dental school, Dr. Weir’s newborn son was diagnosed with a rare, intractable epilepsy. Faced with anticipatory grief and the demands of caring for a medically fragile child, she initially stepped away from dentistry. But in witnessing the healthcare disparities faced by the special needs community—especially in dental care—her passion was reignited. Dr. Weirchose to return to her path, now with a powerful purpose: to honor her son’s life by serving others like him.

Today, Dr. Weir balances her work as a clinician with her role as a devoted mother. The challenges she has faced have instilled in her a deeper strength, resilience, and empathy. Her practice reflects both her clinical skill and her profound sense of mission.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Weir finds joy in the outdoors—hiking, snowboarding, boating—and in travel. Her favorite vacation destination is Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and she maintains a personal tradition of seeking out the best ice cream wherever she goes. (Seattle’s Salt and Straw holds the top spot so far.)

Dr. Weir’s life and work are driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to comprehensive, dignified dental care. Her journey has shaped her not only into a skilled practitioner but also into a compassionate advocate for those who are too often overlooked.
